Have an assortment

I love Japanese food, but I recently realized that I only really order a couple of items, and havn’t tried anything new in a while. So, I decided to go to Yayoi and try something that I hadn’t before. I ordered the Yayoi Gozen, which is a “signiture delux set meal” featuring a couple things I’ve had before, and a couple I haven’t. I also had a sake flight with the meal, but that’s in my previous post.

Bottom Left:

Teriyaki salmon with lotus root and mushrooms. I don’t know that I’ve had lotus root before, and I quite like the texture of it. kind of like a cross between the feel of baby corn and water chestnuts.

Bottom Right:

Beef sukiyaki. Surprisingly sweet, I don’t think that I would order this as a stand alone entree. The knot of noodles was fun to eat though.

Upper Right:

Salmon salad with citrus shoyu dressing. I could eat this every day for the res of my life and I would still love it. It was so  refreshing and delicious.

Upper Left:

Ton katsu with sauce and wasabi honey mustard. I’ve had this here before, and while it’s alright, there’s something about it that makes me want more. Either a fattier piece of meat, or something different in the sauce. I’m just not sure what it is.

Side dishes:

Pickled cabbage? Tangy is just the right way.

Spinach and carrot, sesame seeds make it surprisingly nutty, almost peanut flavored.
