Overrated foods

When food get really hyped reputations, the actual taste can fall behind the expectations. While I was at Universal Studio’s in Orlando, I saw the Voodoo Doughnut location there and decided tat I needed to try it. I’ve been wanting to try Voodoo Doughnuts for years, but haven’t had the opportunity to swing by the original location in Portland, Oregon.

While some of the doughnuts, the ones you’ll most likely see on the travel channel shows, are crazy combinations or tons of add-ons, they also have some basic flavors as well. I wish I had gotten one of those instead. The dough was bland in the ones that I had which would have been a good contrast to how much sugar there was in the frosting and toppings, but somehow wasn’t.

There was a Menchie’s frozen yogurt shop there as well. While I really like frozen yogurt, I feel like this is another over hyped food. It’s nothing particularly special, it’s just a tangier version of ice ream. It’s not necessarily healthier than traditional ice cream, especially if you go crazy with the added toppings.
