Less stress travel tips

I made a post last week about unhelpfully generic travel tips, and then decided to make my own. During my trip home for Christmas last winter my aunt asked for travel tips. She doesn’t fly often, and when I said that a  13 hour trip wasn’t too bad, she seemed extremely skeptical.

I’m not saying that a long trip is right for everyone, but I mainly travel on my own or with other adults. When booking my trips, I try to have at least one hour but preferably one and a half hours as a layover between each leg of the trip. To get to where I need to in Michigan I have to take two or three flights. This means that I purposefully try to add 2-4.5 hours to my trip.

Why? So that I don’t need run between gates, I have time to get real food, get a real drink and be able to drink it at my own pace. It’s also so that one delay doesn’t necessarily mean having to reschedule every flight after. If you have small children with you this may not be the best option for you.
